Are Bamboo Shades Private at Night?

The honest answer
Unlined bamboo is not private in the way a lined Roman or a curtain is. During the day, the exterior is brighter than the interior, so people outside see texture, not you. At night the reverse is true.
What to do
Add a privacy liner if the shade supports one, layer inexpensive curtains, or choose a tighter weave / room-darkening Roman for street-facing bedrooms.
Many customers use bamboo in living rooms and a blackout Roman in the bedroom. That split is reasonable.
